Mount Pleasant
An 18th-century cottage redesigned around family life — my own home, and my practice’s proving ground.
The dilemma every client brings, I brought home: an old house full of character, none of it working for the way we live.
Three years, a renovation and a two-storey extension — designed room by room only after the whole house had an answer. Four children, one long-term plan, and a budget that had to be argued over like anyone’s: knowing where to spend and where to save.
The landing became a vaulted library under a new gable window — the kind of space no room-by-room brief would ever have asked for, and now the heart of the house.
