Architect & interior designer in Welshpool

Welshpool is the market town of the upper Severn valley, with Powis Castle above it and the Montgomery Canal running through. I work with owners of its town houses and the substantial properties in the valley around it.

The houses of Welshpool

The town carries Georgian and Victorian frontages along Broad Street and High Street, timber-framed survivals behind them, and canal-side and railway-era buildings below. On the slopes above sit larger Victorian villas with long views, and the valley beyond holds farmhouses and estate cottages.

What is worth doing first in Welshpool

Houses on the valley slopes have the outlook; houses in the town have the fabric. Both usually need the same intervention — the plan turned round so that daily life happens in the best-lit part of the building, rather than in whichever room happened to be nearest the back door.

Architecture and interiors, decided together

The wall you move decides the joinery that fits against it; the window you add decides the colour that works beneath it. Because I design both, decisions in Welshpool houses get made once — plan, light, kitchen, storage, materials and lighting resolved as a single scheme rather than handed between an architect and a decorator six months apart.

Questions from Welshpool owners
Do you work in Welshpool?

Yes, along with Montgomery, Berriew and Guilsfield. The initial phone conversation about your property is free.

We have a Victorian villa with poor circulation. Where would you start?

With the whole house measured and understood, then options — the £1,950 Concept & Feasibility stage produces layouts, a CGI visual and indicative costs before you commit.

Do you handle Welsh planning applications?

Yes, within a full appointment, working to Powys policy and Welsh listed building legislation where relevant.

Start with the whole property.

My first conversation with you is free. You do not need a finished brief — an outline of the property and what is not working is enough.
