The houses of Oswestry
The town mixes Victorian commercial wealth with older survivals; the real story is the countryside — longhouses, stone farmhouses and chapels toward the Berwyns, brick granges on the plain. Many have been extended piecemeal over generations and now need one plan to make sense of the accumulation.
A design note for Oswestry
Border farmhouses are often three houses in a trench coat: original core, Victorian wing, 1980s addition. The valuable work is editing — deciding which parts carry the future, and letting the plan flow through all of them as one home.
